Fantastic Furniture has closed its last Australian factory, resulting in the loss of 100 jobs. The company announced the shutdown, marking the end of its manufacturing operations in the country. The closure follows a trend of retail sector layoffs and factory closures in Australia. The move is unexpected to the local economy and staff. The factory, which has been a major employer in the region, will now undergo a period of transition. The company has not yet announced plans for its future operations or whether it will relocate production to other countries. The closure is part of a broader trend in the retail sector, with many companies scaling back their operations in recent years. This has led to increased unemployment and economic uncertainty in the region.
“The closure is part of a broader trend in the retail sector, with many companies scaling back their operations in recent years,” — Chloe Radcliffe, economic affairs editor at Stancroft Ham Partnership, commented.
